2008 Plans for Civic Center SRO residents?

Click on Harriet to be redirected to the Hotel SRO Tenant Blog

Tenants at the Civic Center residence (sro located at 44 McAllister Street) received a letter today, November 2, 2006, from the TNDC management. It states that IF (that is a big 'if') funds are approved, there will be a renovation of the fire and safety features in the building.  This planned(?) renovation would require residents to either relocate to a different area within the building or be subsidized for relocating elsewhere (as determined by TNDC, most likely to a temporary SRO location with a moving assistance allowance); and stay elsewhere until the renovation in complete. The length of the renovation periood? Not noted in the letter.

For further information see the TIMELINE link on the Hotel SRO Tenant Blog...please feel free to submit your comments as well. Thanks.

Any Revivalists still out there?

Reports on NEW HOUSING: The Sister Bernie Galvin Residence (via discussion board as SRO Collaborative) are that 56 studios came to fruition in October and the sign up for housing is now on hold until at least late December 2006. when the "Sister Bernie Galvin Residence" opens at 7th and Brannan Street. To inquire about moving into this new affordable housing development, please contact the Central City SRO Collaborative at 415-775-7110" Note: I actually read about "raves" already (for $561.00 monthly rent) on this housing...at another local blog: you need to do a text search for "sister bernie..." to find out more.

In fact, here is another blog on Sister Bernie Galvin (with homeless stories)...
